Summary Assignment 1: Variables, Measurement, and SPSS
A description of what the each of the variables measure and Levels of Measurement There are 68 variables measured in the High School Student Data Set According to Dietz and Kalof (2009) the levels of measurement are: Nominal- names the attribute uniquely. Does not have significance of measuring the value as better or worst, as they are mutally exclusive. Ordinal- classifies and ranks (orders) the values. Scale (Interval)- classifies, orders, and measures distance from other values. The level of measurement describes the relationship between the values in each variable. Knowing this relationship can help the researcher understand how to interpret the data (Dietz & Kalof, 2009)
