Acute vs. Chronic Acute/unstable conditions always take p Right Direction Give clear, concise instructions
Life-threatening Any immediately life-threatening proble Right Supervision RN remains accountable — always follow up
SATA Priority Choose all that apply — think: most uns Right Circumstanc Consider patient stability and setting
SAFETY & INFECTION CONTROL — Key Principles
Isolation Precaution Types: Restraint & Safety Rules:

Standard ALL patients — gloves, hand hygiene
■ Use least restrictive restraint appropriate for the situation
Contact MRSA, C. diff, wounds — gown + gloves
■ Document behaviour requiring restraint, type used, and patient
response
Droplet Flu, meningitis — surgical mask, private room ■ Never tie to side rails — always tie to the bed frame with
quick-release knot
Airborne TB, measles, varicella — N95, negative press
Protective Neutropenic — positive pressure, mask for vi
