Morfologie Geseg menteerd, heteronome segmenten, tagmata (segmenten die zich
gaan groeperen) chitineuze cuticula, dienst doend als exoskelet ,
gereduceerd coeloom ( VP - en excretiestelsel), voornaamste
lichaamsholte is een hemocoel (organen baden in bloed)
Fysiologie Volledig spijsverteringskanaal, centraal zenuwstelsel: ganglia op een
ventrale zenuw, kopganglion dorsaal van de oesophagus, gasuitwisseling
door trachea, kieuwen, boeklongen en huid; open bloedvatenstelsel met
dorsaal hart, osmoregulatie: buizen van Malpi ghi, excretieklieren,
circulaire en overlangse spieren
Voortbeweging Scharnierende gelde aanhangsels aan elk segment
Voortplanting Gescheiden geslacht, vaak seksueel dimorfisme, interen bevruchting,
soms parthogenese
Ontwikkeling Direct of indirect via speciale larvenstadia (metamorfose)
Habitat Crustacea meestal in water, andere meestal terrestrisch, wereldwijd
Grootte Volwassenen: 0.1mm tot > 60cm
Diversiteit > 1.000 .00 0 beschreven recente soorten
