Difference b/w LVN and RN= more teaching (need to know more about the drugs)

No drugs work well w/ antacids- b/c antacids are alkaline, they slow down GI absorption
Therapeutic index, therapeutic range, toxic level, peak, and trough- understand/ know
definitions (will be a test question)
w/ onset of confusion/ disorientation suspect recently prescribed medications; encourage patient
to report if new drug is not improving condition it was prescribed for (WILL BE TEST
QUESTION)
Important- reverse reactions with benzodiazepines- KNOW THEM!!- on exam; caution w/
suicidal ideation
Know about the herbs someone might take- 210/211
Benzodiazepine- Zolpidem (Ambien)- given only for sleep
***Balanced anesthesia
Know adhd, narcolepsy, and respiratory distress relation
**Pg 270- fluoxetine, also has BlackBox warning for adverse reaction of suicidal ideation
Before and during SSRI administration- assess for suicidal ideation/ seizure hx
Desvenlafaxine- SNRI (look over in book)- encourage Pt to stay well hydrated
