- Parent-adolescent relationship influences handling of other relationships.
o Bullying:
- About 20% of students aged 12 to 18 experience bullying.
- Types include verbal, social, and physical.
- Both bullies and victims may face lasting problems.

o Nonverbal Communication Tips:
- Over 65% of communication is nonverbal.
- Includes body language, gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, tone of voice,
and use of space.
o Effective Communication Skills:
- Encourage two-way conversations and questions.
- Adapt communication to the audience's preferences.
- Paraphrase to ensure understanding.
- Stay focused and avoid emotional distractions.
- Use clear, concrete language and be open to feedback.
- Practice active listening and engage appropriately.
Sex, Gender, and Sexual Orientation:
o Sex vs. Gender:
- Sex: Determined by biology and sex organ (male, female, intersex).
- Gender:Social or cultural distinctions (male, female, intersex, transgender,
gender neutral, genderqueer, two-spirit, third gender, and all, none, or a
combination of these.).
