1.1 Introduction

When working in a team, the team effectiveness, motivation, satisfaction, leadership
and self-efficacy are all components that can make the team a success, or in the
absents of the components, lead the team to certain failure.

All these components are issues that the design team are facing troubles with. In the
following pages we will address each of these components and how they affect the
design team.

1.2 The Effectiveness of The Design Team

Team effectiveness can be measured by the extent to which they achieve their goals
and objectives. There are various problems and obstacles that a team can face in their
attempt to be and effective team. Concepts like creating the correct environment for
the team where there is support, commitment, goals, reward systems, communication
systems and physical space has a great impact on the team’s effectiveness. It is also
important to keep the following aspects in mind when creating a team (Luthans,
Luthans, & Luthans, 2015):

• Task should be interdependent.
• The size of the team should be kept as small as possible.
• The members that are selected should be competent, as well as motivated
to be a part of the team.
• Team cohesion must be built by assembling groups of people that are the
same and overcoming differences between the people by encouraging
interaction between members.

The following are four different ways to ensure team effectiveness:

1. Team Building

Most teams might require some time and training for the team to become a productive
and cohesive unit. Team building is one of the ways to train the team members on
how to get along and work as a team. At first some members can be unwilling to take
part, but when they see the success of the team and learn the fundamentals of
teamwork, they will jump in. As the team develops, the members gain more clarity on
