Informative Presentation Practice
The experience of rehearsing my presentation was quite insightful and helped me realize
some of the areas that need be worked on. I was able to evaluate the fluency of my speech, the
usage of the filler words and other aspects of my speech delivery. This way I could see my
performance in terms of my words per minute and repetition and this gave a clear picture of how
I was communicating. The one thing I was fully satisfied with was the content that I produced;
however, there were times when I found myself using ‘um’ and ‘uh’ a lot, which is something
that I have to work on in the future.
Also, the comments in relation to using similar words and phrases many times were quite
useful for me to know that I could avoid such a practice in order to keep the audience interested
and to be comprehensible. In general, it was useful to identify some of the strong points and
weaknesses during this rehearsal session.
For my next practice attempt, I plan to work on the execution by cutting down on the
usage of filler words and diversifying the terms used. One of the speech strategies that I will
implement is using silence as a weapon against fidgeting and nervousness rather than using filler
words. I will also ensure that I paraphrase some parts of my speech to ensure that there is no
repetitiveness in the speech.
Further, I would like to focus more on my rhythmic technique and try to avoid rushing
and, at the same time, not to linger on any part of the music. With that being said, one way of
