Week 2 Assignment Template – IEP Assignment W2LO2: (CLO2)

Please write at least one, but no more than two paragraphs, for each of the following questions
and statements below.

1. What are the components of the required content of an IEP and who provides input into the
development of the plan?

The IEP has many components and is developed by input from different members of the special
education committee. “All the important decisions about special education are made on an
individualized basis by the student’s ARD committee, which is composed mostly of teachers,
direct service providers, and the parents” (Walsh & Orman, 2022). The committee The
PLAAFP tells the current level of abilities and challenges in academic and functional areas and
is provided by general education and special education teachers that can describe how the
student’s disability affects their progress. The IEP has annual goals that are based on the needs
presented in the PLAAFP and is developed by the committee. The IEP also addresses the
services, accommodations, and supplemental aids that will provided to the child based on their
needs and decided by the committee. The committee also discusses what assessments the child
will take and what accommodations are needed. Transition services are discussed by the
committee for students as they approach graduation to address skills needed to be successful in
life after graduating. The members discuss the need of EOY services. “The IEP must include
the dates, frequency, duration, and location of the services to be provided to support your
child’s progress toward meeting annual goals” (TEA, 2024).
