Project Management Plan – Scope
BUS 633: Project & Operation Management
ILS acquired a logistics company in Peru in late 2019. This facility has several issues
requiring immediate attention for the facility to work at the company's standards. This document
intends to outline a project plan that can be used by shareholders and team members to
understand what needs to be done. The scope of the project includes: improve safety in the
, 2
warehouse and among the truck driver, reduce waste of electricity, organize the warehouse,
update or repair old/damage equipment, train the employees to ILS standards, lower turnover
rate, and document processes to have records of the work and training being done (Birkedal,
2020). This project's primary goal is to gain businesses from companies such as Walmart, which
there are many around the logistics company that ILS purchase.
What are these project limitations?
As it is essential to know what the scope of the project is, it is also crucial to understand
what is outside of scope. This project does not guarantee that Walmart will be a customer. Also,
the project has a limited budget of $100,000. Most of the data that ILS is working with comes
from the previous logistics company, and training employees cannot guarantee the reduction of
safety accidents to 0. The return on investment for this project is expected to be relatively quick
because of ILS's reputation in other countries as a dependable company (Kloppenborg et al.,
2019). The company must consider that this is a new county, and people's work ethics might
differ. As the project manager for the project, I will create a schedule to indicate the deadlines
for multiple tasks. It is almost impossible to be 100% accurate, but the program's intent with
deadlines is that it would give each team leader for the project a start and end time, which put a
limitation of time for each task that needs to be complete for the project. One of the most
significant restrictions on any project is the limited amount of resources, and for this reason, it is
imperative to use the resources wisely (Benz, 2018).
Current problems and solutions
The old logistics company left plenty of problems for ILS to solve, such as: first, safety
issues (in 2018, The previous logistics company had 13 lost time accidents in the warehouse)
with two severe accidents while transporting inventory to a customer's facility. Second, the
