This project is a culmination of a series of Xenopus laevis experiments that explores basic Xenopus laevis development and the results of different perturbations at different times of development. This lab report uses wing experiments to observe manipulations on substrates expressed by Drosophila in their wings. Also, it investigates mystery mutants using visual clues from their phenotype and patterns in embryogenesis and neurulation. This mutagenesis lab experiment was performed on Drosophila Melanogaster with a controlled nontransposable P element. By introducing the transposase in a cross, it is shown to be able to manipulate the outcomes to an extent. The gene of interest is the CG3964 locus. A series of crosses were done to eventually end up with the curly wing marker and CG3964 genes to test the viability and lethality of a mutation on this gene.
