Development of Technology to the Retail travel environment
Introduction
Technology has impacted on the retail travel environment and retail travel
operational practices due to the dramatic increase and development of
technology in recent years. I will be analysing all of the factors and
advancements that have led to the continuous growth of the travel and
tourism.
Hardware
The first impact of technology to the retail travel environment is hardware.
Examples of hardware are computers, printers, I pads. This type of technology
has advanced to become more efficient, easier to use and creates an overall
quicker process for the travel agent. Retail travel agents use hardware such as
printers and monitors on a daily basis when dealing with customers. In the
present day travel agent, everything is done online throughout the whole
process of booking. Travel agents use monitors to make bookings and Emails
for customers. They also used printers to printers to print tickets and booking
confirmation. Previously monitors were large and bulky and printers would be
slow. There was a time when there was no hardware in travel agents. Therefore
this shows that technology has increased in the form of hardware in travel
agents. It has also increased the efficiency of travel agents and the booking
process. It has highly effected the retail travel environment because it has
made it more modern, quicker and helped to increase the company reputation
because they have the latest technology.
