1. Railway signaling is the basic safety system controlling the movement of trains. Safety forms critical part in the control function of the railway. Manual and or automatic systems are responsible for managing a non-conflicting and safe train route. There are two vital roles for railway safety mechanism that is, train detection knowing where the train is and movement authority telling the train how far it can go. There is a wide variety of fixed signals used by railways around the world. They are categorized into two broad groups, speed signaling and route signaling. Speed signaling is the common, where the indications for the driver represent an instruction to proceed at speed depending on the type of train. A driver is shown one or more lights in a specified pattern, which gives him the authority to proceed or not at the speed designated to his train. Route signaling, are usually indicated by discrete and fixed lineside indication sign. Drivers are shown proceed indications for a block or several blocks ahead. If a diverging route is set, additional indications are provided, and the driver is expected to adjust the train speed to comply with the separate lineside signs. Railway mechanism Interlocking systems consist of several signaling equipment that prevents trains from colliding by managing the movement of railway tracks. The main function if this protection system is to set the route that trains drivers will follow, such routes are determined by different sections of the track joined at intersection. This is the responsibility of the control unit to manage the railway switch intersections so that trains can merge into other lines and transit to desired route. Trains moving in any conflicting direction will automatically be signaled to slow down or stop until a safe a passage is authorized. Block signaling, a railway system that divides the railway track into different section to allow the movement of trains not occupying the same block. The block signaling ensures that enough headway between trains, that is the minimum distance between two trains in transit along the same track. Automatic blocking signaling (ABS) are like traffic lights placed along the rail track. Signal lights alert the train drivers as to whether to enter a block. Sensors along the railway line are connected to the traffic signal light, different colours have meanings as to caution the trains driver to access a block. Moving block signaling and centralized traffic control systems. Moving block allows safety regulators to create a safe zone, within that zone and based on the speed of the train and other travelling trains allows sufficient headway to avoid accidents. Sensors along the railway send messages to the Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) center alerting on the location of the train. Through communication and technology no other train will be permitted to enter a safe zone of other train.
