Stanford University of Phoenix PSYCH/645: Personality Theories Marshmallow Experiment 03:14:44 GMT -05:00 The Marshmallow experiment was a study on late or delayed gratification and how a child would react to a choice between a small, immediate reward or two small rewards if they waited for a specified period of time. This experiment consists of two motivational concepts used to explain the behavior and response to children when a reward is involved. The Extrinsic vs Intrinsic both provide evidence of motivation. Intrinsic motivation comes from within the individual, while extrinsic motivation comes from outside the individual. The Marshmallow experiment reminds me of my experience I had with my first job right after high school at a department store.
