The teacher will know whether the objectives have been achieved by giving learners daily class activities which will be assessed before the end of the lesson. Once the objectives have been achieved, the teacher can measure if and how her/his students have performed. 1.1 Describe the concept pre-assessment. Focus on inclusivity in the classroom, lesson planning, and assessment methods. (9) 2.3 Read the case study below and then answer question 2.3.1. Phumzile is a 10-year-old girl at Phalane Primary School. She has recently moved to town and has started at the school four months ago. As her Creative Arts teacher, you have noticed that Phumzile does not seem to be focused. There is an issue with language, which she cannot seem to process most of the time. You had an initial meeting with her parents, and they did mention that she was not performing well, but they needed advice. So, you have decided to observe her and found some of the following issues: • Art skills – there was no improvement. • Her language development seems to be delayed. • She has an inability to communicate confidently, is isolated and cannot easily make friends. • She lacks projection in her voice. • She seems to feel better when she is pointed at or shown what to do while sitting in her place – using body language to get the message across. • She can hear better close by and not further away. 2.3.1 Write a report on the above observations regarding Phumzile. Explain how you will involve all stakeholders (the principal and/or parents) and discuss the adaptations that you will consider in order to accommodate Phumzile’s needs. (6)
