what was the use of bonds and recognisances?

Henry VII used this to ensure good behaviour from the nobility who Henry was wary of, they would make a promise (swearing loyalty to the crown for example) and if this promise was broken then they would experience a financial punishment which would often be an amount which would leave them bankrupt, they would lose their wealth, land and status along with it. It was a useful method to ensure the nobility did not rebel against him.

how else did Henry secure his reign?

Another way which Henry had been able to secure his reign was through the convenient birth of his eldest son, Prince Arthur, born from Elizabeth of York and Henry. The prince was the natural heir as he was a boy and was also the symbol of the joining of the house of York and Lancaster who had been involved in the war of roses. This solidified henry's reign early on and gave him an heir.

who were the major foreign threats during the reign of Henry VII?

France, Spain and the holy roman empire were the three superpowers during this time and would have had the best chance at disrupting Henry's reign, however as England was hardly a player in Europe at the time, they did not interfere. Another notable threat was Margaret of Burgundy, the sister of the previous kings and a Yorkist supporter, she had the wealth and resources to aid a rebellion against Henry.
