What is commercial fishing?

Commercial fishing is the large scale fishing using methods such ass trawling (towing huge nets behind boats) and dredging (dragging a metal frame along the seabed to harvest shellfish).

What are the environmental impacts of mining?

Waste from mines can pollute soils, groundwater and damage ecosystems. Extraction of Tar sands is causing devastation to the undisturbed boreal forest which is an important biome with coniferous trees, wetlands, and species such as caribou deer, bears and millions of water birds e.g. Kingfisher). Fracking uses 600 carcinogenic chemicals in the mixture of the fracturing liquid which can affect the health of the hundreds of workers employed in the Fracking sites and leak into the environment.

How can food security be measured? (World Hunger Index, daily calorie consumption)

The Global Hunger Index This index ranges from 0 to 100, with 0 indicating zero hunger and 100 the most hunger. The index is calculated using four separate indicators: -Undernourishment (% of population) - Child wasting (the proportion of children under 5 with low weight for their height) -Child stunting (the proportion of children under 5 who are short for their age) -Child mortality (death rate for children under 5)
