Biological Approach AO3 Evaluations
The Genotype is the genetic makeup of a person, whereas the phenotype
is the observable characteristics, such as behaviour and physical
attributes (shape, size, colour, etc).
Concordance Rate
The chance that two people with shared genes will develop the same
disease.
For example; the concordance rate for MZ twins in SZ is 50%
i.e. if one twin developed it, the chance that both will end up having it is
50%

Strengths
P - A strength of the biological approach is how it uses scientific methods
of investigations.
E - This suggests that the approach is believed in, and is establishes
psychology as a respectable science.
E - The measurements can be objective as they can be performed by
machines which have no vested interest in the outcome (PET scans, EEGs,
etc).
L - The use of this complex machinery allows us to get accurate and
precise measurements, and is conclusive based on reliable data.
P - Another strength of this particular approach is that it has credible real-
life application.
