Explain two methodological issues relating to Rosenhan's study
One issue is the sample studied was all American hospitals which would
therefore only be representative of American hospital practices.
Another issue is that because a field experiment was used, there was no
standardised procedure as this would have decreased the validity of the
findings
Explain one useful application of Rosenhan's findings
Rosenhan's study highlighted issues with the basic procedures used when
admitting patients relating to diagnosis such as when using the DSM
manual, this has led to the development of an updated DSM which has
resulted in improved diagnosis.
