Carry out a review of the project management process – P7
Carrying out a project successfully takes experience, training and most importantly:
planning. The project management process for the creation of this database had mostly
positive features and was carried out according to plans, however not every step was
successful at the first attempt and there were some unplanned delays.
The first phase was to define and produce a project specification, this is followed by the
second phase which is asking the client the main purpose and requirements needed for the
project. Third comes the planning which was essential as if this process was done wrongly
the database wouldn’t have met the client requirements, here aspects such as the resources
for the database and communications between stakeholders and project managers were
discussed successfully. The next phase of the project was the designing, here the designers
couldn’t understand fully the concept of the client and this was one of the negative aspects
of the project. Designers then had to discuss ideas in a specific meeting with the client in
order to apprehend fully the requirements for the database, this caused the original plan to
be delayed of a few days.
Over budgeting was also a risk as the client wanted new designer staff, however the
contingency plan came helpful as extra funds were ready to be invested so no money loss
was recorded. The next phase was the implementation and building the database, however
