Timings & Planning for GCSE AQA English Literature Paper 2


Question One:
 The Inspector Calls Question – there will be a choice of two questions, PICK ONE, and
answer it.

 Paragraphs – 4 PARAGRAPHS. PLANNING = 5mins.

 Timings – 45 MINUTES IN TOTAL
WRITING = 40mins.


Question Two:
 The Seen Poetry Question – there will be a question asking you to COMPARE two
poems, ONE IS GIVEN, and the other you will have to remember.

 Paragraphs – 3/4 COMPARATIVE (CHUNKY) PARAGRAPHS, mention each poem in
each paragraph.
PLANNING = 5mins.
 Timings – 45 MINUTES IN TOTAL
WRITING = 40mins.


Question Three:
 The First Unseen Poetry Question – worth 24 marks, a random poem is given, and
ANSWER THE QUESTION.

 Paragraphs – 2-3 NORMAL PETAL PARAGRAPHS.
PLANNING = 5mins.
 Timings – 30 MINS IN TOTAL
WRITING = 25mins.


Question Four:
 The Second Unseen Poem – you are given another unseen poem and asked to
COMPARE IT TO THE OTHER unseen poem.

 Paragraphs – 1-2, ONE IS BASICALLY FINE as long as it is good.
PLANNING = 5mins.
 Timings – 15 MINS IN TOTAL
WRITING = 10mins.
