(explaining the railroad power of lands) when we first started the project
that companies were going to build RR, it was a good idea but who was
going to pay for it, the *government did not have money* Ans✓✓✓
The *railroad companies paid for this* with incentives. The government
offered two things,
1. *Government bonds* (promise to give you some money down the
line).
2.*land* (they gave them public land! for *every mile of track laid, they
rail road companies were given 20 sections*)

And in the west? Ans✓✓✓ Some Irish. But their were someone lower
than the Irish- the *Chinese*


As early as the 1850's it was painfully apparent that very few gold
miners struck rich. It was promoted, but when you really went out there,
it was horrible. Gold dream was gone. Ans✓✓✓ It was hostile between
miners, resentment and more.
The white American miners become resentful against miners.
(Mexicans, Chinese, etc)
They had low tolerance for Mexicans, but 0 for the Chinese.


California's land ownership was locked into two main controllers! Who
were these groups? Ans✓✓✓ *Mexican land grants/ ranchos.............
and........... the railroads!*


Central pacific Railroad and Southern Pacific Railroad are the same!
Ans✓✓✓ Same thing, it changed names over time.


China was also here for gold... Most of the Chinese were from one
particular province which was Ans✓✓✓ The South East portion
