education.
- There are now a wider range of subjects and courses available at
schools/colleges. Pick n mix approach.
- There is now more variety in types of schools
- Subjects reflect a person’s personal development e.g. photography classes,
as well as the needs of the economy

- Postmodernism theory is seen as exaggerating the extent of
diversity in the education system e.g the national curriculum is
centrally imposed.
- ↑ However, this is changing a bit with the increase in
academies, free schools etc. But most do still follow the
national curriculum.
- Ignores the reproduction of inequality through education e.g
class, gender, ethnicity
