Addition polymerization
● ***Polymerization: joining up of lots of little molecules (monomers [單體]), making
one long chain molecule (polymer [聚合物])
● ***Addition polymerization: forming long chain molecules by the joining together of
monomers having C＝C bonds
(SBA) forming long chain molecules by the joining of monomers having C＝C bonds
● Under some conditions, molecules containing C＝C bond can join together to
produce very long chains (i.e.: the carbon double bond is broken down into carbon
single bonds)
● Part of double bond is broken to become single bond, electrons in it used to join
to neighbouring molecules
