P1
Explain how a large business recruits and selects giving
reasons for their processes:
NatWest:

The company I have chosen for my business is NatWest. This business provides British banking
and is an insurance holding company, It runs numerous banking brands that provide corporate
financing, insurance, investment banking, private and business banking. NatWest provides a
service for the personal, private, and corporate banking needs of its customers in England and
Wales. Furthermore, it is a PLC and it offers services to major Western European corporations.
The number of NatWest branches in the United Kingdom are approximately over 200 which
were reported in England and Wales. Due to branches closing or openings since then, this
number may have altered, but it still gives a rough idea of how many there are in the UK.
Nationwide Building Society’s flagship is based in Swindon, South West England, it is the
largest building society in the UK and worldwide. The company employs approximately 18,000
people and serves over 16 million members. https://www.natwestgroup.com/who-we-
are/our-brands/natwest.html

NatWest also has a good number of employees which was around 63,700 throughout the end
of December in 2023. NatWest Group recorded around £6.2 billion operating profit in 2023, a
20% rise from 2022, indicating solid financial success, This is due to their openings in new
locations, and expanding into Europe, bringing in skilled workers to increase the efficiency of
their work. Their annual revenue increased by 10% to £14.3 billion from the previous year.

,The bank credited its success to strategic investments in digital and data capabilities, efficient
balance sheet management, and disciplined capital allocation that helped clients through
economic challenges including inflation and rising interest rates.

workplace planning:
Businesses must recruit people for a number of important reasons. the First reason is, in
order to satisfy changing business goals, organisations that expand or extend their offers
must recruit new employees with specialised skills and new views. In a market that is
evolving, this can help the company remain competitive. Additionally, recruitment is
essential to keep the company operating efficiently when there are open spots brought on
by staff turnover.

New branch/ Business growth:

The stress develops when the NatWest expands since it usually services more clients or
customers as they expand into new branches in different locations. To properly manage
this growth, the company must recruit more staff in order to maintain quality and meet
deadlines. As NatWest expands, the current employees may feel overwhelmed by extra
responsibilities. By distributing the task more fairly, recruitment lowers stress and
maintains staff satisfaction.

, Job roles:

Even though employment roles are changing, NatWest is hiring to fulfil shifting business
requirements as the system can change in the future upcoming years. The bank needs
new job roles/ skill sets as digital services, technology, and consumer demands grow,
especially in data science, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and customer experience.
Hiring makes it possible for NatWest to keep up with these advances, provide services that
are competitive, and increase growth. Furthermore, as traditional jobs change or become
automated, new opportunities appear for workers with specialised talents, assisting the
bank in being efficient and prepared to take on new problems. (System/technological
change and job roles)

System changes:

Experts in fields like risk management, financial regulation, and sustainability are
essential for banks due to changing regulatory environments and increasing compliance
demands. NatWest is also concentrating on enhancing the customer experience and
service, therefore, it needs experts who can interact creatively with consumers both online
and offline.

The evolution of systems towards automation and data-driven processes requires the
recruitment of qualified/skilled workers to enable NatWest to service clients, execute
these changes efficiently, and preserve an effective operational environment.
