CELLS WITH NEURONAL FUNCTION



Astrocyte- Neuron Lactate Shuttle’:

Glucose stored as glycogen

Glycogen converted into lactate

Lactate turned into energy for neurons



Astrocytes:

Take up lactate released during action potential

Prevents build up

Build up causes unregulated neuronal activity
