Immunity is the ability of our bodies to resist an infection and to remove that foreign
material quickly and effectively. Infection means that you have a higher risk of getting
an infection as the three lines of defence have failed. The body defends itself against
infections by using two defence mechanisms. One of the two defence mechanisms is
non-specific or innate immunity and the other is called specific or adaptive or acquired
immunity. Specific immunity is the immune response against a specific pathogen and
non-specific immunity is the immediate protective response of the immune system
which doesn’t require previous exposure to the pathogen (Pediaa.Com, 2019).
