Domestic Tourism – Involving residents of one county travelling only within that country.
Holiday / visit within your own country (keeping the pounds and tourism in the United
Kingdom)
Inbound Tourism – Visits to a country by visitors who are not residents of that country.
Outbound Tourism – Visits by residents of a country outside that country / leaving your
country to go to another.
Why do people travel?
- Educational trips.
- Business / work tourism trips, (e.g. – conference, meeting, attending an exhibition)
- VFR (visiting friends and relatives)
- Leisure (day trips, holidays or short breaks)

Accommodation:
There are two types of accommodation. Serviced accommodation and non–serviced
accommodation. Serviced accommodation is where service is provided for you, such as
hotels (cleaners, meals).
Examples of these are hotels such as Travelodge and Premier Inn, b and b’s, cruise ships,
and holiday villages such as centre parcs.
Non-serviced accommodation is where there is limited/no service provided, meaning it is
self-catering. Examples of these are camping, log cabins, caravan parks, motels and hostels.
Transport in the UK:
- Buses / coaches (road)
