Lecture 16 – Adaptation Genomics: Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) Mapping
Genome scans and statistical tests can be used to identify regions of the genome that are
under selection
To understand what the genes are being selected for requires working from the genotype to
the phenotype (knocking out genes, how the gene affects development, how it functions in
the wild)
Instead starting with the phenotype – phenotypic variation in the population is heritable and
identify the genes responsible by QTL mapping using genetic markers
