A six-week psychological skills training programme
We are going to do medium/short term goal that we are going to do for 6 weeks, spilt in too 1 week
short goals that the client must achieve. So the athlete can move on to other weeks so that he can
progress this will help and improve the athlete’s psychological skills and mental wellbeing which can
benefit the athlete because the athlete will be much tougher mental and will have advantages over
other because he will have psychological skills that he will have and know, which he will be able to
use when training and use them in different types of competitions.

We are going to educate the athlete so he would know the reason for “why” he is doing it so that he
would know the reason for doing it and he would know the benefits of using this psychological skills.
Also, know the process of what is going to happen the way it will affect the athlete himself. Which
then he can use different skills in practice and competitions so he can use different skills when
required to use in specific situations which could help him get advantage when training or going into
the competition. When training he will apply the psychological skills to training and competition so
that it could help him perform better.

To improve the athletics characteristics we first need to learn the athlete about what we are going to
do so we are going to do week by week plan for 6 weeks so that we can improve the athlete’s weak
points in the characteristics. For this, we are planning 6-week programme to improve the
psychological skills and learn new things, so that when the athlete is doing the programme he will
know everything and will know what to do in different types of situations when training or having
competitions.

Where are going to apply smart goals so that it is specific training so that the athlete would have the
best chance of achieving the goals and getting the best of the training when completing the
programme.

This programme is specific to boxing and this will help the athlete to become better at his sport
because he will have known psychological skills that will help him in boxing and potential life. The
goal is very measurable. It can be achieved because it is completed in small steps which is not too
much for the athlete to absorber at once and we don’t skip anything so the athlete doesn’t miss on
anything when doing the programme. We have agreed on this with our athlete to do this
programme so that the athlete would improve on his psychological skills. Lastly, the programme is
time-based because it is limited. After all, the programme is designed for 6 weeks and not for longer
or shorter which means the client will after try his best to achieve the goal that we have set up.

The sport that the client takes part in is boxing he does it competitively and trains a lot!

Every week the client will train 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) he will train his
psychological skills every (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and he will have on every Sundays of for
relaxation and to get some rest to recover from training.

Week 1 and 2: First week will concentrate on Motivation

To improve athlete’s motivation we are going to go through Updating goal setting

The client will train 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) he will train Updating goal setting
(Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and he will have on Sundays of for relaxation and to get some rest to
recover from training.
