Physical Properties
1. Although halogenoalkanes are more soluble than alkanes, halogenoalkanes are still
only either sparingly soluble or insoluble in water. They may be regarded as insoluble
but soluble in organic solvent.
2. Halogenoalkanes have higher boiling point than alkanes with the same number of C-
atoms. Boiling points also increase from chloro to bromo to iodo compounds.
