1) Excess nitrates in the water cause rapid algae growth, which
cover the water surface and block lightto deeper water Eutrophication
2) Plant's are no longer able to photosynthesize as they cannot
get light, and start to die and decompose
3) Microorganisms that feed on decomposing plants increase in Process
number and use up all the oxygen in the water
4) Organisms that need water for aerobic respiration die due to
the lack of oxygen in the water
Fish can be farmed in open nets holding water
FIsh produce large amounts of waste which can leak into the
open water which can cause the death of wild species
Parasties from the farm can infect wild animals Fish farming
Predators are attracted to the nets, they become trapped and
then die
Farmed fish can also escape which causes problems in the wild
