,Abstract
Nowadays, the weight of the increasing price of fuel has started to buckle the
general public. The cost of all things has increased because of it. Be it the price of
commodities or the price of public transport, the increased cost has affected everyone.
So, in the midst of all this, this project aims to bring an alternative to using transport and
to appeal to the humanity of people. The main aim here is to give the public a better
transportation option. This project is a social service initiative focused on helping people
easily reach their destination.
The project tries to achieve this goal through carpooling. Carpooling is a system
where people commute together using a private transport system. The concept is similar
to hitch-hiking but here, the people travelling decide their travel beforehand. Carpooling
helps reduce travel expenses, reduce crowding in public transport, reduce road traffic as
well as save travel time.
The concept of carpooling in Nepal is still very new and the common people seem
unfamiliar with it. But after conducting a couple of surveys and market research, it was
seen that a majority of the youth are comfortable with it and are willing to comply and help
with carpooling. Many were very interested in the concept and seemed enthusiastic about
it as well.
After completing the report and the surveys and all the research, it was found that
if implemented and utilized properly, carpooling can be a very good alternative to the
public transportation system. And in a country heavily reliant on the severely defunct
public transport system, it could be a useful substitute.
