In this experiment we calculated the volunteers pulse rate after a high level of activity, we
calculated their pulse rate at different conditions either at rest or after exercise. From looking
at the results we can see that after exercise the human bodies pulse rate increases. Your
pulse rate during activity or no activity relates to the cardiovascular system as organs are
working. The cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood and this
system has different functions. One of the functions includes, transport of nutrients, gases
and waste products. The cardio vascular system supplies oxygen to the body and it is most
essential function of the cardiovascular system this is because when you exercise, your
muscles move more than when you are at rest therefore, they need more energy. Another
function of the cardiovascular system is the protection of the body by white blood cells,
antibodies and proteins that circulate in the blood and defend the body from blood loss after
injuries. These are the instruction we followed to make the experiment as fair as possible;

1. Measure the pulse rate of a person at rest for 30 seconds (then multiply the value by two
to get the pulse rate per minute) seven times

2. Record the value in a table

3. Get the volunteer to run up and down the stairs for 30 seconds

4. Immediately after exercising; measure the pulse rate for one minute and record the value
in a table (repeat 7 times)

5. Calculating the variables was important to be applied in order to make it a fair
experiment. The dependant variable of this experiment was the pulse rate of the volunteer
when they were stationary and after exercise. The controlled variables were the duration of
how long the volunteer ran for, the conditions they ran, for example their temperature,
distance they ran for and finally the person who was running. In this experiment, there was
no independent variable as it was important to ensure the volunteer was exposed equal
conditions in each test. After carrying out the experiment; these were the results: The
