Assignment plan for BFA616.
Introduction:
Studying the impact of COP27 that happened in Egypt.
This research is important because it evaluates what happens to the environment and the
future plans of what is to come.
The plan for this research is to gain a better understanding of the targets that were set out
by cop27 and how they will impact the environment and are they achievable?
Executive summary
Review some of the literature that has been looked through for this assignment.
Talk about the aims and objectives of COP27 (from this reference:
https://lordslibrary.parliament.uk/cop27-progress-and-outcomes/ ) which says the ultimate
objective is to stabilise greenhouse gas concentrations. There is also focus on how the world
pays for the estimated $125tn bill to tackle climate change by 2050.
Talk about the developing countries and how they are going to potentially have a bad
economy due to all the rising prices of everything. There are over 100 countries in the world
that are on the verge of economic collapse.
Population is growing and is due to rise to 70million by 2050 this will mean that it is going to
be hard for people to get the necessary things they want (food, heating) especially for the
developing countries.
Many different studies have said that the targets put out by COP27 aren’t achievable and as
a country they aren’t going to happen within the timeframe are they too ambitious? The
targets of COP27 need to be thought about in a better way and maybe consider the people it
is going to hinder rather than the people in the government that aren’t going to see the
effects of COP27 because in a financial way they are all very well in a stable way and don’t
think about the people that aren’t so financially well off.
Include the point of petrol and diesel cars no longer being used in 2030 – is this too soon and
there isn’t enough electric in the world for the whole world to fully switch to electric
powered cars.
Maybe they could think more about the natural ways to get electricity like Solar or Wind
which can potentially be used to replace traditional power systems meaning there will be
enough energy to run the world on fully electric cars, but this won’t come into place by
2030.
There is currently the cost-of-living crisis, and the government is giving people a lot of
handouts to make sure the economy stays afloat. This isn’t the right thing to do because it
means that taxes will increase meaning that people are going to find it harder to live their
lives the way they want to.
Many countries in Europe and North America have engaged in a heavy use of fossil fuels to
power industrialisation which has led to human induced (anthropogenic) changes in the
composition of the atmosphere.
The main driver of climate change and global warming is CO2 which can stay in the
atmosphere for thousands of years.
With COP27 being about climate change and how they can make it better, surely the
thought of polluting the air whilst having to travel to these countries doesn’t make it fair for
