CALIBRATION OF THERMOMETER
• EQUIPMENT:
Beaker
Digital and liquid thermometer
Crushed Ice
Distilled Water

Hot water
Stop clock

• HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Hot water can cause burn it can prevent by wearing gloves and lab coat.
Wearing lab coats and goggles reduced the chance of cuts in case that the glass equipment
broke.

Make sure to turn off the gas after completing practical it can cause fire.

• METHOD:
Using Ice:
First, I fill the beaker with crushed ice, and I added a little distilled water in it so ice can start
melting, I stirred the water for few minutes, then I placed digital and liquid thermometer
into the ice. after few minutes the reading on the thermometer appears, I recorded the
temperature and removed the thermometer, after this I repeat the same steps 3 times.

Using Boil water:
First, I fill the beaker with boiling water, I stirred the water for few minutes, then I placed
digital and liquid thermometer into the boiling water. after few minutes the reading on the
thermometer appears, I recorded the temperature and removed the thermometer, after
this I repeat the same steps 3 times.

The digital thermometer was less accurate while the water was boiling because
of the reading flickered between temperatures, whereas the liquid thermometer
was more accurate.
