In this task I will be describing the diferent types of stakeholders.
Description of Stakeholder
Stakeholders
Customers. This stakeholder is interested in Ikea as they produce good quality products at low prices. They
also provide a wide range of home furnishings such as carpets, tables and beds. The designs are
mostly modern which is appealing to the current generation however Ikea appeals to all
individuals such as children, families, students and elderly people due to the large variety.
Employees This type of stakeholder is involved in Ikea due to sharing the similar Ikea values such as
leadership, enthusiasm and striving to achieve goals. Ikea has 135,000 employees globally
providing good wages and working conditions that promote their work. Ikea is also a stable
organisation that is growing which provides job security for many. Ikea invests in its people by
training them to develop their skills with motivation which creates quality customer service.
Suppliers This stakeholder is interested as Ikea is well-known global company with good relations for
supplying and is a sustainable business. Ikea is a Swedish country however most of the
manufacturing is done in China as it is a developing country where production is cheaper allowing
for the products to be of low cost, appealing to the mass market.
Owners Ikea is owned by the Inka trust who are interested in Ikea to promote growth and profit. Also to
reinvest their products back into the business to endorse further growth. Some profit is also
donated to the charity.
Environmental Environmental stakeholders have an interest in Ikea providing sustainability to their organisation
ensuring it contributes positively to the environment and are energy efficient. Also that Ikea
recycles waste products to ensure sustainability. Ikea has many global programs to help recycling
and sustainable development to help developing countries as well as richer countries such as the
UK.
Local & National These stakeholders are interested in Ikea helping communities in poorer developing countries by
Communities donating profits to the Ikea foundation and charity that can help communities in these countries
providing suitable living conditions. Also working with local communities in the UK providing
sustainable jobs for employees and promoting visits to stores such as Southampton.
Competitors This stakeholder is interested in Ikea for competitive reasons. For example Argos takes a particular
interest into Ikea due to its size and dominance in the home furnishings sector.
