Michalis Ioannou has lived on his family farm since he was born. His father was a
farmer, so he followed in his footsteps. His own children, however, do not see their
future in the village and have already left to live in Nicosia.
“They used to help me a lot, when they were young, but they didn’t like life in the
village”, he says. “Life on the farm is not easy. You wake up at dawn and often you
don’t go home before 6. If you do this job, you have to love animals. Otherwise, you
won’t make it.”
