Modern architecture is often based on new ways of building using lots of glass, metal,
and wood. However, in Iran, the use of these materials emphasises the huge difference
between the styles of today and the familiar designs of the past.
Recently, some architects have used traditional Iranian elements in their buildings.
One well-known example is the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. This museum was
created to exhibit the works of national artists, as well as those from around the world.
It has over 3000 works that include important paintings and sculptures from Europe and
America, some of which have exceptional value.
