The reason why public services need a diverse workforce is because it will eliminate
discriminationn create equal opportunities and develop good working relationships between
diferent people in the public services and the community/society; in which it allows
everyone to respect and value each individual’s diferencess

One way in which the public services develops a diverse workforce is through recruitment
and staf selection strategies - positive actions Positive Action is a range of lawful actions
that seek to overcome or minimise disadvantages in employment opportunities and so this
promotes equality and human rights and can accept anyone for whoever they are and
where they come from: for instancen accepting their sexual orientations

Having an efective equality and diversity policy in the public services allows them to deliver
services accessible to all and aims to integrate equality and human rightss With thisn it will
change the attudes within the public services and the communities in which it will
eliminate discriminationn harassment and victimisations This is because with more people
from diferent backgrounds joining the public servicesn for example the policen it will ensure
that everyone is treated fairly and that they should be accepted for who they are and to
show everybody that there is nothing wrong in being a diferent colour or race etcs

Another way that the public services develop a diverse workforce is representing diversity in
imagerys This means that working alongside people who maybe of a diferent culturen racen
or gender will show everyone they should be treated fairly and not discriminated against in
any ways By creating friendships and good relations kept between everyonen this imagery
should display how communication and interactions should be between one another; in
which it should positively infuence others to converse in a proper manner and accepting
their diferencesn in order to be a good role models For examplen in the fre service everyone
is to be treated equally and no mater who they are or what the colour of their skin isn their
aim is to communicate efectively with one another and diferent members of the publics

Targeted recruitment is more common in the public services because of wanting to boost
the number of ethnic minority recruitss This will help the public services like the police and
fre servicen to persuade others to join these services because it will increase diversity and
will allow diferent people to have fair access to any of the services and be treated equallys
As of thisn it will encourage positive action and show everyone that people should be treated
the same without judging the person either about their racen religion or skin colour etcs -
rather than being biaseds
