3A.D1: Analyse potentials ways in which infections are caused,
transmitted and diseases is contracted

In health and social care, it is important to know transmission is how a disease is
spread and contraction is how an individual gets a disease (Rasheed, AT EL, 2018).
The intention of assignment is to analyse the potential ways in which infections are
caused, transmitted and disease is contracted.

The assignment will begin by discussing the cause of Athlete's feet's, how it is
transmitted and contracted as well as the advantages and disadvantages. It will also
discuss how and why athletes foot can be contracted and transmitted.

To begin with, the common fungal infection athlete's foot is caused by the same type
of fungus that causes ringworms. (NHS choices 2023). It is known to cause itchy
white patches in between the toes, that can crack and make an individual bleed. It
can be transmitted by contact with infected skin scales as well as contact with fungi
in damp areas. Additionally, even if the treatment has begun and an individual is to
have contact with the fungal skin, it can be contracted. One advantage that athlete's
foot has, is that it will not cause serious problems for individuals who are healthy,
and it encourages hygiene, however a disadvantage is if an individual is to leave the
athlete's foot unattended it can spread to a nail causing fungal nail infection. Athletes
foot can be created in social factors such as an individual's housing conditions, if the
area is damp and mouldy, fungi is bound to occur making athletes foot likely to be
contracted.

Continuing from this, the assignment will now discuss the disease ringworm.
(Ringworm 2023). Ringworm is caused by the same fungus that causes athletes
foot called dermatophytes. It causes a red or silvery ring-like rash around the skin
commonly, affecting the legs and arms however it can appear on all parts of an
individual's body. Ringworm can be transmitted by direct contact with an individual
who had the disease previously, or from infected bed sheets and towels. In addition
to this, an individual can also contract ringworm from an infected animal. An
