, Task 1:
Personal qualities Valued by Employers: (P1)
Specific Attributes:

Specific attributes are skills that are specific for the job. These change depending on the job. For
example, having technical knowledge would be a specific attribute that would be valued by an
employer for an IT job. However, this same attribute wouldn’t necessarily be valued by an employer
for a football coaching job. Having a specific attribute is important to the employer because it means
that you know how to do the job well and to a good standard. This means that if there are any
problems or issues in the workplace, then they would be able to be solved quickly and effectively.
Specific attributes regarding to your Rainbow charity would be to have some technical knowledge.
This is because knowledge is needed to create the "talking books" and get them onto CDs. Also some
knowledge with computers will be needed to assist the people who need helping with the use of any
IT technology.

General Attributes:

General attributes, like the name suggests, are more general skills that aren't specific to any certain
job. For example, organisational skills or verbal skills. Verbal skills are valued because it allows for a
soother working environment if everyone can speak and get their points across effectively. Also, with
good communication tasks can be completed much easier. This is because of how people can easily
communicate confidently and efficiently. At Rainbow verbal skills are extremely important. This is
because you will be working with partially sighted people. This means that they need to fully
understand what to do since they can't just watch and learn. When helping someone who is partially
sighted with IT, verbal skills are needed to ensure they can understand exactly what needs to be
done and how.

Attitudes:

Attitudes are very important and are valued by employers because they allow for better working
environments in the workplace. An attitude that is highly valued in the workplace is determination.
This is because it means no matter how difficult the job, the employee will not give up and want to
find a way to complete the task. With good determination, an employer will value their employee
more and trust them with more things. This is because they can trust that they wont give up or lose
motivation. In Rainbow determination is very important since working with partially sighted people
could become aggravating for some people. However, if they are determined, they will want the
people that they are working with to succeed and they will go that extra mile to help them.
