• The hospitality industry in the EU currently employs 9.5 million workers and has
been one of the fastest growing sectors in terms of employment in Europe.
• Half of hotels and restaurant’s employees are below 35 years of age, there are more
women than men working in the sector.
• The hospitality industry in the UK employs 1.7 million people, which is about 6%
of the total working population.
• There are around 50-60,000 hotels and an estimated 56,000 restaurants in the UK.
• The value of the hospitality sector is around £55-£60 billion a year.
