Learning Outcome 1 – Know the range of different businesses and their ownership

Introduction

In this task, I will be discussing the various types of businesses as well the different purposes
they might serve to the public or a business for profit.

Various businesses

Local – A local business usually does not have a chain of establishments across the country.
A local business is usually for one’s self to make a living; an example of a local business is a
Chinese take away called “Peach Garden”. Peach Garden is a local business with no external
shops in the same branch. A Local business only trade with consumers in that local area.

National – National businesses have a
greater consumer demand as they
trade in big cities throughout the
country. A National business will not
have just one store but they will have
larger stores all over the country
making them a well-known business.
An example of A National business is
National Express; National Express is
dedicated to transporting people
across the country, this is their main
purpose as it is National Business.

European – A European business is a business that trades within Europe and keeping its
supply chain within Europe. An example of a European company is a business called
“Nestlé”; Nestlé is in the industry of food as they create many various types of Cereal as well
as different chocolate products. Nestlé trades all across Europe in order to keep their
demand at a high, as they are a very popular food industry.

International – An International business is a company that trades transportation or simply
consumer goods between ‘two or more regions, countries and nations beyond their political
boundaries’. This means that the business will not just trade locally or nationally but also
trade with at least more than two countries in order to increase demand for their
businesses’ product or trade. An example of a business that is International is Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola is a business that are well known internationally and is one of the most beverages
in this current day and age. Coca-Cola are well known across the world therefore making it a
global company, hence making it the most popular beverage business in the world.
