Analysis of Verbal, Web Based and Written communication

Verbal information
Verbal communication is often the best way to communicate to the majority. This is because there is a much
less chance of misunderstanding them and it allows verbal and non-verbal messages. However because of
money restrictions it is impractical for them to meet in person. Telephone conversations are also useful to
communicate but it can help a lot using different methods. This would be used when a teacher is talking to a
pupil when they are giving homework. Also it is used when a teacher is talking to another teacher about the
child’s progress. This is seen as internal information. The purpose of verbal communication would be to update
information using speech. In Penglais verbal communication is always used especially between the pupils and
teachers. Verbal communication would come from everyone within the school as it is the most effective way
for the teachers to teach. This is because they can answer any questions and go into depth if needed. However
verbal communication does have its limitations: for the teachers in school their verbal communication is very
good as they have been trained. However some pupils may fell shy and this means that if they had to do a
presentation in front of the class their verbal communication is likely not be very good. Also other problems
are that: use of technical terms could confuse people, lack of interest and attention, differences in views and
some people may not be able to speak or understand your language. This format is useful especially in a school
as you only have an hour for a lesson so it’s much more effective to use verbal communication as it takes no
time to organise and setup.

Written communication
Writing is the use of physical symbols to represent words. Written communication comes in a wide variety of
sources including newspapers, books, trade journals and government publications. The purpose of the
information in a business is to help promote the business image by communicating with the outside world. In
school written communication is shown in reports, newsletters, e portal information and exercise books. For
example Penglais do this by creating newsletter; they are available to the pupils to take home to families. This
is an internal source because they are updating any information anyone needs which is also the purpose of this
communication. For Penglais this is by far the most important and effective way of any other business
communication. This is because in school all written work is marked and at the end of school you are judged
on how well your written communication is through exams. Written communication is very effective as it
means that you can put your words into writing and also refer to them if needed later on, whereas with verbal
communication you cannot. This form of communication is verbal important in Penglais as they need to have
document on all of the pupils, financials, legal documents etc. For example, In DT they often create written
presentation booklets for pupils to have for lessons with all the relevant information on. Written presentations
are an effective means of providing key information to pupils. These days as technology is developing Email
has become an extremely important communication tool especially in Penglais. Teachers and pupils in the
school often write multiple emails each day, sending out work and/or promotion educational opportunities for
pupils. Written communication can be unreliable especially because
it can be altered very easily and nobody would know.

On-screen information
This is information that is produced on the screen this can be seen as
multimedia TV and CD-ROMs that combine, text, graphics, animation,
audio and video. Penglais has their own website where you can find a
lot of written on screen information. For example they have a page
for all of the years, teachers and any other relevant information
needed. On screen can just be text and nothing else at times.
Penglais School use e portal which is a source of internal information
and its purpose is to update teacher’s information about anything to
do with the school. The purpose of this is to update knowledge.

Multimedia
Media can be text, graphics, audio, animation, video, data and many
more. Penglais School pupils often use and create multimedia
communication. They would use this when they are showing us an
educational video or a play for English literature. It can be very
