Analysis of purpose and reliability
Verbal information
Verbal communication is often the best way to communicate to the majority. This is
because there is a much less chance of misunderstanding them and it allows verbal and non-
verbal messages. However because of money restrictions it is impractical for them to meet
in person. Telephone conversations are also useful to communicate but it can help a lot
using different methods. This would be used when a teacher is talking to a pupil when they
are giving homework. Also it is used when a teacher is talking to another teacher about the
child’s progress. This is seen as internal information. The purpose of this is inviting support
for activities. Verbal information isn’t at all reliable. This is because what people say verbal
can be interpreted differently and the more that it is passed on the more it changes.

Web-based information
Web-based information has many benefits of multimedia technology. Because of today’s
internet connections it is easy to stream videos anywhere. Penglais School use this
streaming ability when we have the awards night. Last year Penglais School had a video
stream to London where we interviewed Taron Edgerton about his acting career. The
purpose of this information is to receive quick and easy updates. This information can be
both internal and external. The internal source of this would be anything you get of the
Penglais School website. The purpose of this is for communicating sales promotions. This
information can be unreliable but it depends on where the information is coming from. For
example, the news you see on BBC is reliable but some news you may see on Facebook may
be fake as everything on the internet can be edited and changed.
.
Written communication
Writing is the use of physical symbols to represent words. Written communication comes in
a wide variety of sources including newspapers, books, trade journals and government
publications. The purpose of the information in a business is to help promote the business
image by communicating with the outside world. In school written communication is shown
in reports, newsletters, e portal information and exercise books. For example Penglais do
this by creating newsletter and they are available to the pupils to take home to families. This
is an internal source because they are updating any information anyone needs which is also
the purpose of this communication. The purpose of this is inviting support for activities. This
type of information has the same reliability problems as web based information. Like web
based information this can be edited with ease and if it has been this means that the
information it contains is unreliable.
