1965 - Heath becomes leader of the Conservative Party
- Carbon copy of Wilson as he represented modernity and new beginnings for the
Conservative Party, which at the time was dominated by the old Etonian classes

- They faced each other in the Commons for the first time
- Heath cracked a joke and was amazed when people took it seriously
