This guide has every tip and trick, regarding how to subsequently cite in footnotes, compiled into a single document. It's super easy to follow and I guarantee you, if you follow this guide, you won't lose any marks when it comes to OSCOLA referencing. As a first year law student, referencing using the OSCOLA technique did not come easily. Every website that taught OSCOLA referencing would be missing key details- causing me to lose easy marks. Through trial and error, I was able to perfect my referencing. Do try this guide out and tell your friends too!

If the subsequent citation is IMMEDIATELY after the full citation, “ibid.” will be used.

If the subsequent citation is interrupted by other footnotes, you must identify the case and refer it
back to the original citation.

NOTICE:

- In IMMEDIATE subsequent citations, the word “ibid.” is used.
- In the other example:
- 1 party name is mentioned
- Party name is still in ITALICS
- “(n.1)” refers to the footnote number the original, full citation is.
- The number changes accordingly

- FOOTNOTES ALWAYS END IN FULLSTOPS



Statutes:

If the subsequent citation is IMMEDIATELY after the full citation, “ibid.” will be used.
