Practical
skills
Introduction:-
Unit 2 Assignment 4 is about learning practical skills for calculating
the correct amount of sodium carbonate and calibrating the
equipment. The skills I developed after doing these practicals are as
follows,
What I learned:-
The skills I developed and learned from these practicals are as
follows,
I learned how to use the weighing balance correctly.
Calibrating the equipment like the weighing machine.
I also learned how to read the correct reading of the meniscus
and how to see it.
In this unit two of the practical scientific procedures and techniques I
completed many experiments and research about different things.
This unit was so helpful and I have learned many developmental
skills that I can use in my further education in universities by doing
these practicals I got much confidence in working independently
during any scientific-practical. In this unit, I do practical in different
procedures like titration chromatography and calorimetry. There was
so much previous information that was required for me to do this
practical but despite this, I had to gain some other information to
experiment independently and correctly. After these practicals when
I examined my judgmental skills and my performance, I concluded
that these strike mental skills will prove to be so helpful for me in the
, further parts of this course. There are many developmental skills that
I have developed after doing these practicals. Some of them are,
After completing many procedures and techniques and much
research I learned that there is an important skill of
observation. I observed many things by seeing the teacher how
some of the equipment work and are calibrated such as the
burette and the ring machine that I have never used before.
As these practicals were performed in groups in pairs it was
necessary to know how to communicate with other mates and
as well the information offered by teachers to ensure that the
practices we were doing are incorrect order or not and a good
understanding is made.
As we know experimenting is not easy until you don't
understand the key concepts analyzing data is the main part of
an experiment and how information is presented. An
interpretation was also a skill developed during these practicals
and understanding why anything turned out the way it did in
the experiment or why the experiment turned out the way it
did so much more research was required, and much
information was needed to find the accurate results of the
experiments or the practicals that we were doing.
Strengths and weaknesses:-
While weighing the sodium carbonate onto the weighing machine I
calibrated it first to get the correct amount of the powder which is
1.35g.
The time when I weighed the amount of sodium carbonate in the
weighing boat As I calibrated the machine bought after putting the
empty weigh boat onto the machine, I didn't calibrate it to zero. So,
when I calculated the amount of sodium carbonate in the weighing
machine it showed me the combined weight of the sodium
