Megan Scully Discriminatory Practise

Types of discriminatory practise:

 Sexuality

How rights are infringed:
Definition: To violate or break (a law, an agreement, etc.) Rights are infringed when someone abuses your
rights as a human being. This could be things such as discrimination, bullying or harassment. In more serious
cases it could involve crimes such as attacking someone because of their sexuality or even sexually assaulting
someone.

Covert abuse of power:
Covert abuse is something that is happening discretely, the abuser is attempting to hide this. An example of
covert abuse would be emotional bullying happening at home, this is not happening in the general public
which is why it is covert.

Overt abuse of power:
Overt abuse is something that is happening openly, the abuser is not attempting to hide this. An example of
overt abuse would be verbal abuse in a public place. It is not hidden, which makes it overt. If it is in the context
of the police an overt abuse of power is where a police officer runs a red light, not because it is an emergency
to do so but because they did not want to sit through the red light.

Explain:

 Abuse:
i- Use (something) to bad effect or for a bad purpose; misuse.
