D1: Justify the design and choice of components used in a particular
networked solution
In this report I am going to be showing and explaining why I choose the different components for the network setup I have done below.
For these components I will be stating the advantages and disadvantages that they bring the business and how it can help the business
in certain situations.
Here is the network design for the client which is very
straightforward to follow. As you can see that between the
router and the switches I have decided to use high speed
Fibre optic cable which will allow for high speed transmission
and no slowdowns. The things that are not visible in my
diagram is the VPN I have setup to get access the servers so
other business shops can access data without any kind of
security issue. Furthermore another thing that is important
for this kind of network setup is the network protocols I have
setup which are TCP/IP which will allow for basic
communication with all devices across the internet. This can
be easily setup as I can setup a TCP/ IP Program and send it
towards all computers in the network so they get each
individual copy of the protocol. This would be more ideal on
the main servers of the business but the workstations might
also require these protocols. Furthermore one thing I
decided to implement in is a separate firewall which will be
hardware based. Although there are software firewalls in the
computer this is a much safer precaution in terms of
protecting the network. The firewall will also protect the
network against hackers as many businesses get threatened
by hackers. Last thing is the network used which is a
dedicated line for the business which provides each of the
workstations connected a fixed IP Address allowing for easier
monitoring of the networking.
